Outreach

We want all interfaith families to be positively connected and feel more at home as members of Temple Shalom. Often our interfaith members express their desire for more opportunities to learn and ask questions about the Jewish holidays, their history, meaning customs, and how to celebrate them at home.

Programs have included:

1. The Christmas/Chanukah Dilemma
2. Teen inter-dating
3. Raising Jewish children
4. Parenting/ Grandparenting children
5. Preparing for the first child
6. How to celebrate the holidays
7. Jewish home rituals/activities

Talking Outreach

What is Outreach? It is closely related to the URJ initiative to welcome those seeking a stronger connection to Judaism, such as Jews-by-Choice, interfaith couples and families, parents of interfaith married children or anyone interested in knowing more about Judaism. Outreach does not seek to convert non-Jewish partners. Rather, it enables them to explore, study and come to understand Judaism, to make Jewish choices in their lives through community support and adult education, and by making Jewish resources at Temple Shalom readily available.
