Social Action News
At its July 24, 2007
meeting, the Social Action Committee unanimously approved the following
mission statement: “Rabbi Tarphon, a 2nd Century sage,
admonished that ‘It is not your obligation to complete the work of
perfecting the world, but you are not free from desisting from it
either.’ Consistent with the spirit of these words, it is the main
mission of the Social Action Committee to encourage congregants of
Temple Shalom, including our youth, to become aware of, and to
participate in social action programs that contribute to
Tikkun Olam
--- improving the quality of life in a world that needs healing --- at the
local, national, and international levels.
