Adult Education is an important part of Temple life. In addition to many unique opportunities to enrich adult education throughout the year, at Temple Shalom we have four principal on-going programs:

  • The Wednesday Institute for Jewish Learning (WIJL)
Conducted by the various Rabbis from the Naples area and several members of our congregation, these sessions cover a wide range of topics and interests
  • The Sunday School for Adults
Conducted by our Rabbis, on three Sundays and covering a common theme each year.
  • The Scholar-In-Residence
An annual event conducted by a guest speaker on a Friday night, Saturday morning and evening, and Sunday morning, providing an in-depth exploration of a specific topic.
  • The "Live from NY’s 92nd Street Y" Speaker Program Series
Lectures, interviews, panels and readings broadcast live via satellite from New York’s 92nd Street Y and projected on our 10x14 screen.

There are many choices for learning at Temple Shalom, both for members and non-members alike. In the words of our own Rabbi Baht Weiss, "Each of us, at various stages of our lives, can find ways to further our education. One never stops learning. Our synagogue is not only a place where we come to pray and socialize but also a place to learn."
