The Rabbi James and Jane Perman Library began 15 years ago with temple members Pauline and Murray Hendel’s generous contribution and vision of an outstanding library for Temple Shalom.
Our Library is the cultural arm of the Temple, providing music, art and museum through innovative programs and exhibitions. Accommodating over 3,000 books, the Perman Library is one of the fastest growing Judaica collections in Southwest Florida. It provides Jewish children with the opportunity to be exposed to literature by Jewish authors on Jewish topics. It provides a meeting place for book clubs and Jewish organizations as well as a unique resource for the community at large. It denotes that at Temple Shalom its congregants and its people continue to be the "People of the Book."
