One of
the objectives of our committee is to distribute honors in the most
equitable way possible. We instituted a reporting system, whereby all
recipients of honors at the High Holy Days and Friday Shabbat Eve
Services are recorded with the intent of including as many congregants
as possible. We want to honor new members, regular worshippers, members
celebrating a life cycle event, members who have been active or
participated in a Temple activity, and members who have not been honored
in the past. This year we have been very successful in meeting this
objective and will continue to seek new ways to extend honors.
Each of
our committee members takes on the responsibility of assigning honors
for a month. Saturday morning honors are offered with similar
objectives, but with less formality. We attempt to grant High Holy Day
honors to congregants who have contributed their time, efforts or
resources to the Temple in a variety of ways. We are always receptive to
recommendations from you as it relates to yourself or someone you feel
should be granted an honor.
During
our weekly and High Holy Day services, we are always looking for
congregants who are interested in a Torah or Havtorah reading. Please
advise any of our committee or the rabbis if you are interested. If you
need any refresher, tutoring or special help, please advise us and we
will be happy to help prepare you for this wonderful honor.
