We read in midrash, “A torch that kindles a multitude of candles does not diminish, rather it grows stronger with the light it creates. So too is it for one who gives to meaningful causes.” Your gifts to Temple Shalom have kindled a veritable multitude of Jewish lights by enabling Temple to be a vibrant center for Judaism. We inspire through meaningful worship and lifecycle moments; we provide opportunities for engaging adult education and powerful acts of tikkun olam; and we work to transform the youth of today into the mensches of tomorrow by instilling our values in future generations.
Our response to Hurricane Ian revealed the essence of who we are as a community. Without hesitation, we used our “light” to kindle hope in the hearts of those impacted by the storm. Our Rainbow of Hope lifted the spirits of thousands through our donating thousands of hours of volunteer time and vital financial support. At every turn, we heard messages of gratitude for the generosity of spirit, warmth and kindness we exhibited at Temple Shalom.
