Thank you for being part of our Temple Shalom One Family. Over the last year we experienced the importance of community, rallying together to stand strong in the face of rising anti-Semitism and the horrifying events of October 7th. Our congregation provided support, elevated spirits and gave comfort during these troubling times. We read in Talmud, “Whoever practices tzedakah fills the world with loving kindness” (Babylonian Talmud). Todah Rabbah for all of your acts of tzedakah that went above and beyond this past year. Your gifts filled our world with loving kindness, and gave us hope.
Each year gifts to Above & Beyond make it possible for us to fulfill our mission to provide Jewish engagement for the community of today and to develop the next generation who will follow after us. Toward that end, your generosity enables us to make sure that no Jewish child is turned away from learning about our heritage and tradition, knowing that annually we give more than 36 scholarships to students in our Religious School. Your dedication makes it possible for Temple Shalom to be a beacon of light in our community, providing acts of tikkun olam, Meals of Hope and blessings to those in need. Furthermore, your investment in Temple Shalom provides for spiritually meaningful worship experiences, touching life cycle moments, as well as unmatched adult educational programming.
That same spirit of giving above and beyond to the Jewish community extended last year to our brothers and sisters in Israel. When Israel needed our aid, you stepped up. Our Temple sent more than two dozen duffels of equipment and supplies in the immediate aftermath of October 7th. Later, our One Family donated a new mobile kitchen to provide needed meals and comfort for IDF soldiers, as well as displaced Israel civilians.
We are grateful to those members who have already joined our Above & Beyond campaign for 2024-2025, strengthening our community during these difficult times. May our continued acts of tzedakah bring wholeness to our fractured world, peace to our community, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
