The Confirmation Program (post-Bar/Bat Mitzvah) engages students in 8th through 10th grade. Already past the milestone of Bar/Bat Mitzvah, they now possess the equivalent of a Jewish driver’s license – and we want to see them take their Judaism out for a spin! This experience provides a strong foundation for Jewish identity and the skills for participating actively as a Jewish adult.

Our Confirmation program mixes a combination of classroom and hands-on experiences for students. Over the course of three years, students learn about Jewish lifecycle rituals, study comparative religion, explore the American Jewish experience, and delve into their relationships with God, Torah and Israel. The primary classroom component comprises 8 Sundays, with additional opportunities for students to earn “points” through community service, BBYO, worship and other activities that link with Jewish values. Each year includes a local outside the classroom trip, and two major field trips. 9th and 10th grade students travel with Rabbi Miller to Washington, D.C., while 8th grade students explore Jewish Florida with Cantor Azu.

Confirmation concludes in 10th grade with a class-led Shabbat service. Students share during the service their Jewish journey, allowing the congregation to witness how our 10th graders have transformed from the time of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah into confident young men and women.
