“In the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them...
When we have joys we yearn to share, we remember them...
So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.”
-Yom Kippur Memorial Service liturgy
Yahrzeit Plaques are a Permanent Memorial to a Loved One
In keeping with Jewish tradition, we observe the anniversary of a loved one's death. While they live on in our memories, we can also honor them with a tangible memorial located in the Sanctuary. A memorial plaque shows the prominent place our dear departed loved ones occupy in our place of worship and in our hearts.
Each plaque may be engraved with the name of the deceased and date of passing. There will be a light next to each plaque that will be lit during the week of the yahrzeit, on the High Holy Days and for all occasions when Yizkor is recited. You will also receive an annual reminder ahead of the yahrzeit.
The contribution for a yahrzeit plaque is $750 and may be engraved in English and/or Hebrew. You may also reserve a space close to another plaque.
Gold Memorial Board Squares can also be reserved and ordered for a $7,500 contribution.
To purchase a memorial plaque or square or to reserve a space, print out this form and return it to the Temple office or fill out the form below. For assistance with Hebrew wording, please contact the Temple Shalom office at (239) 455 - 3030.
